TeamG Tennis Founder- Gerald Mathews

Coach Gerald Matthews is a nationally recognized tennis coach whose dream is to one day develop Wimbledon champions. Known for his exceptional talent, deep dedication to his students, and an unparalleled track record of success, Coach Gerald has helped guide dozens of athletes to full-ride Division I tennis scholarships—cementing his place as a trusted mentor and elite coach in the tennis community.

A former multi-sport athlete, Gerald was born into a legacy of athletic excellence as the son of a Yale men’s basketball alumnus. Although he explored soccer, basketball, and baseball, it was on his high school tennis team that he found his true calling. Driven by a fierce determination to excel, he quickly made a name for himself in the sport.

While in college, Gerald crossed paths with Grant Doyle, a former top-100 ATP pro and CEO of Advantage Doyle Tennis. Their mentorship sparked Gerald’s passion to compete professionally, which led him to play across the U.S. and even spend a year training and competing in the Czech Republic.

Eventually settling in Los Angeles, Gerald began working alongside Grant Doyle and turned his focus to coaching the next generation of tennis talent. As the founder of TeamG Tennis, he brings a unique combination of high-level experience, mentorship, and personal attention to each athlete’s journey—ensuring that every student not only builds skill and confidence but also develops the mindset needed for long-term success.

Coach Gerald is more than just a coach—he is a mentor, motivator, and relentless advocate for his students’ athletic and personal growth.
